Alright, alright! So everyone's pissed b/c the CD was delayed. The CD was delayed due to a lack of sales of the debut multi-single CD. The multi missed its mark by a whopping 147,000 copies. That's 147K! 147,000 x $6.00/disc=$882,000 in retail sales. About 1/2 goes to the label. Half of that is supposed to be enough to repay the front money for the multi-disc. The other half goes into a kind-of "trust fund" for the next disc (if it's cut) or another artist's cut, if the investors want to transfer. So when it comes down to it, DreamWorks is out about $441,000 on Angelle's cut.
Unless sales pick up, which they won't, b/c the peak was during the video's run, there will be no full-length CD. (Unless a new "investor" wants to buy in.) Thanks to those wonderful guys that give away MP3 formats, everyone who wanted to hear the songs on the multi, got to, for FREE.
Angelle might get her disc out eventually on residuals and future sales, but first they'll have to re-release the video (or finance a new video). What sells, gets produced. What sells the most, gets produced first. It doesn't matter if the artist is pretty or just a good voice.
The disc is already produced, I am talking about the CD production. How many copies to market? The cost isn't in making the CD, it's marketing and distribution.
BTW- Angelle has been around the block, since the 80's, she no newbie. Just a new format that didn't work.
